What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws to keep the poor from getting a fair trial and to deprive the afflicted among my people of justice, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
(Isaiah 10: 1-2)
What would you do:
- If you found out that there are times that if the police picked you up, questioned or interrogated you that you have a legal right to get up and walk away.
- If you found out that there are times that if you do or say something in the judicial system, you could forfeit rights, privileges and opportunities legally afforded to you.
- If you found out that these same events apply to juveniles, youth!
The A LOT Network is presently working on creating a service whose purpose will be to Advocate for Justice!
These “advocates for justice” will endeavor to take action and/or provide information and seminars regarding the criminal and judicial justice system to bring about an AWARENESS of how these systems work and how they can affect you and especially those in need, and those that have low to moderate income.
There should be fairness in the criminal and judicial justice system and there should be knowledge and understanding of how these systems work; and most importantly, there should be knowledge and understanding of the devastating affect these systems can have on you when you do not know how these systems work and when they are not fair.
The goal will be to minimize criminal detention or incarceration and to improve lives by curtailing the unnecessary or inappropriate actions that juveniles, low to moderate income individuals and unfortunate adults often experience.
